As the number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois continues to increase, the State of Illinois has issued a stay-at-home order. This order is currently in effect from 5:00 PM on March 21, 2020, through May 30, 2020, and IMRF’s offices are closed during this period.


IMRF is committed to providing you essential services during this challenging time, and we will continue to operate in a limited capacity while our offices are closed.

We Continue to Process Benefit Payments

IMRF continues to process all benefit payments, and we expect you to receive your benefit payments on time.

Our Call Center is Closed

You will not be able to contact IMRF by phone. The best way to contact us is through Member Access or Employer Access. You can also email us or fax us at 630-706-4289.

Mail Processing is Limited

During this period, we will not have the ability to regularly send mail and process mail received. If you mail us any documents during this period, you will experience major delays. We strongly recommend that you use your Member Access account to manage your IMRF benefits. Through Member Access, you can:

You received a Member Access registration key in the most recent benefit statement IMRF mailed to you:


We recommend you locate your statement and use this registration key to gain instant access to your online Member Access account. If you do not use the key in your statements, it is uncertain whether you will be able to register for a new account while our offices are closed.

IMRF’s Portfolio remains Substantial and Diversified

Although IMRF’s portfolio has fallen along with the rest of the global economy, we have sufficient resources to fund benefit payments. Our diversified investment approach along with our 100% Funding philosophy has created a sound financial portfolio, which stood at almost $42 billion at the end of February.
