For IMRF retirees like you, a key benefit of Member Access is being able to receive private, sensitive documents safely and securely through your account. This includes documents like your 1099-R tax form, which has Personally Identifiable Information (PII) like your benefit amount, your IRS account number, and your home address.
IMRF will automatically print and mail you these documents unless you opt to receive them electronically.
Updating your account to only receive sensitive documents directly through Member Access only takes a few minutes, and will give you greater peace of mind that your personal information is more secure.
Reasons to receive your IMRF documents electronically include:
- Being able to protect PII, like your social security number.
- Not having to wait for documents to be delivered by the U.S. Post Office.
- Receiving notifications by email or text message whenever there is a new document or message from IMRF.
- Downloading and saving important documents anytime.
- Reducing paper waste by keeping documents in your secure account.
- Reducing printing and mailing costs for IMRF, which means saving money for you and all IMRF members.
Follow these simple steps to get sensitive documents directly through Member Access.
- Log into your account at member.imrf.org.
- Click on your “Pension Profile” widget.
- In the “Basic Personal Information” section, scroll to the “Communication Preferences” section and click “Update.”
