ECO is an alternative benefit plan for elected county officials in Illinois. The ECO plan was closed to new participants on August 8, 2011.

• If your first ECO participation date was between January 26, 2000 and December 31, 2010, you participate in Revised ECO Tier 1.
• If you first elected to participate in the ECO Plan on or after January 1, 2011, you participate in Revised ECO Tier 2.
• If you first participated in the ECO plan prior to January 26, 2000, you participate in Original ECO.
