This year, IMRF is holding elections for several seats on its Board of Trustees whose terms expire at the end of the year. There will be elections for one Annuitant Trustee, two Employee Trustees, and one Executive Trustee who will serve terms beginning January 1, 2026.

Annuitant Trustee Candidates

The elected Annuitant Trustee will serve a five-year term which will run from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2030.
Ballot Information
The Fall/Winter Fundamentals newsletter, which will contain voting instructions and candidate biographies, will be mailed with the ballots for the Annuitant Trustee election. The newsletters and ballots will be mailed to annuitants’ homes at the end of October. IMRF must receive the voted ballots by the close of business at 4:30 PM CST, December 5, 2025.
Employee Trustee Candidates

The two elected Employee Trustees will serve a five-year term which will run from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2030.
Ballot Information

Executive Trustee Candidates

IMRF employers will elect one Executive Trustee to serve a three-year term from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2028.
Three-Year Term
Two-Year Term
Current IMRF Executive Trustee Gwen Henry was unopposed in seeking a new two-year term of office. Henry’s new term will run from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027.
Five-Year Term
Current IMRF Executive Trustee Brian Townsend was unopposed in seeking a new five-year term of office. Townsend’s new term will run from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2030.
Ballot Information
Ballots, along with candidates’ biographies, will be mailed to Authorized Agents or governing bodies as appropriate in early to mid-October, and must be returned by the close of business at 4:30 PM CST, December 11, 2025.
Authorized Agents may only vote if their Notice of Appointment filed with IMRF indicates they have been given such authority. Otherwise, the governing body must cast the ballot, and the clerk or other proper official must certify the ballot.
