While Cybersecurity Awareness Month is commemorated every October, at IMRF cybersecurity is always at the forefront.
In everything that IMRF does, it prioritizes keeping sensitive information of IMRF members, retirees, and employers safe and secure. This is important when criminals are always looking for ways to gain access to sensitive information.
In addition to other protective measures, IMRF trains staff throughout the year on the most recent trends in cyber-attacks and what they should do to help protect sensitive information. Whether it is online or on the phone, IMRF staff remain alert to protecting members and employers.
Below are some tips to follow to keep your information secure online.
- Use a unique, secure password for accessing any online accounts.
- Think before you click! Make sure any link you click on goes to a trusted website (like IMRF’s).
- Stay up to date with security patches on your devices and browsers.
- Be careful with the data you share online, including social media. IMRF does not send private messages on social media and will delete any personal information that is shared on our pages.
- Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) when available to make it more difficult for hackers to get into your accounts.
Most importantly, if you receive something from IMRF that doesn’t look right, please call or send us a secure message to confirm that the letter or email is from IMRF.
