- Review the provider’s privacy policy and guidelines on the sale/trade of your info
- Determine who keeps your messages and information when your service ends

- Combine letters, digits, and special characters to create strong passwords
- Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts and websites
- Update/change your password periodically
- Ignore spam email and never reply to unknown senders
- Beware of attachments and downloads from acquaintances and unknown senders
- Beware of phishing scams: fake business accounts requesting personal info
- Never enter your personal information into a pop-up screen
