IMRF adopted the reimbursement method for 1999.
The reimbursement method is where a governmental employer reimburses the Illinois Department of Employment Services (IDES) for actual unemployment benefits paid to former workers. With this method, the employer is basically self-insuring, and contributions are not made under this method.
The reimbursement method is available (per Section 211.1 of the Unemployment Insurance Act), to local governmental entities, any political subdivision, or any of their instrumentalities.
