Board Resolution 1992-06-19

WHEREAS, Section 7-102 of the Illinois Pension Code states "It is the mission of this Fund to efficiently and impartially develop, implement and administer programs that provide income protection to members and their beneficiaries on behalf of participating employers in a prudent manner"; and

WHEREAS, members, benefit recipients and employers rely upon IMRF to provide effective programs at a reasonable cost; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees recognizes the position of trust it occupies and the fiduciary duties it owed members, benefit recipients and employers; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has adopted a logo (as appears above) to indicate written communications using such a logo are an official IMRF publication or such publication has been approved for use of that logo; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees believes the IMRF logo should be used only for purposes directly connected with the administration of IMRF.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the IMRF logo shall be used only as follows:

1. For purposes directly connected with the administration of IMRF; or
2. With benefit programs established under the Illinois Pension Code; or
3. With benefit programs approved by the Board of Trustees, after determining that support of such programs are consistent with the mission of IMRF and Article 7 of the Illinois Pension Code.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if an individual or business entity uses the IMRF logo for the purpose of furthering their business interest without express written authorization then:

1. IMRF may undertake, in its sole discretion, legal action to prevent unauthorized use of the IMRF logo; or
2. IMRF may, in its sole discretion, cease to do business, decline to do business, or refuse or cease to endorse a benefit product, with any individual or business entity.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an individual or business entity may use the IMRF logo solely for presentation materials submitted to the IMRF staff or the Board of Trustees.
