Current IMRF Employee Trustee Natalie Copper was the sole candidate for re-election to a new five-year term. The Board of Trustees will officially certify her as Employee Trustee at its December meeting. Her new term will begin on January 1, 2025, and extend through December 31, 2029.
Copper has been an Employee Trustee on the IMRF Board since 2010. She served as Board President in 2014, 2018, and 2022, and as Vice President in 2013, 2017, 2020, and 2021. Currently, she chairs the Benefit Review Committee and is the Vice Chair of the Investment Committee.
Copper works as a School-Age Child Care Site Coordinator at Evanston School District 65, where she oversees a team of 5-6 staff members. The program serves students from kindergarten through 5th grade. She takes pride in providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children in her care.
“I appreciate the opportunity to represent my fellow IMRF members. " Copper said. “As a Trustee, I will continue to make sound financial decisions to maintain IMRF’s high-funding status."
IMRF is governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees:
- Three Employee Trustees elected by active members
- One Annuitant Trustee elected by retired members
- Four Executive Trustees elected by IMRF employers
The IMRF Board has many responsibilities, including authorizing IMRF investments, approving the administrative budget, and setting employer contribution rates. As fiduciaries, IMRF Trustees are committed to acting in the best interests of you and your beneficiaries, ensuring the security of your benefits.
