2023 Executive Trustee Election Results

Sue Stanish has been re-elected as an Executive Trustee. IMRF Employers voted in the Executive Trustee election this fall. IMRF’s Board of Trustees certified the results of the election at their meeting on Friday, December 15.


Stanish, Director of Finance for the Naperville Park District, has served on the IMRF Board for the past 10 years. She served as Board Vice President in 2016, Board President in 2017, Board Secretary in 2021, and has been the chairperson or vice chairperson of multiple IMRF committees including the Investment Committee, Audit Committee, and Legislative Committee.

"It has been an honor serving on the IMRF Board for the last 10 years, and the experience I have gained has been invaluable," Stanish said. "As a trustee, I will continue to work hard to ensure that the Fund remains fiscally sound and viable for members and employers."


As Director of Finance for the Naperville Park District, Stanish is responsible for the District’s financial operations, including: investments, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, debt management, policy development, and financial analysis.


Stanish previously served as the Director of Finance for the Village of Willowbrook for 13 years and as the Accounting Manager for the City of Naperville for five years. She holds an accounting degree from DePaul University and is the past president of the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association, past Board member of Illinois Metropolitan Investment Fund, and Chair of the Park District Risk Management Agency’s Finance Committee.


Her new term will run from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2028.


IMRF Trustees are responsible for the prudent management of IMRF's retirement assets, and for making sure the money is there to pay the benefits earned by every IMRF member and beneficiary, now and for years to come. Ultimately, the Board carries the responsibility to ensure that IMRF continues to be a well-run, successful pension fund.
