Sue Stanish - IMRF Executive TrusteeOAK BROOK, Ill. -- This fall, via a mail-in, paper ballot system, Employers of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) re-elected Sue Stanish as an Executive Trustee. IMRF’s full Board of Trustees certified the results on Friday, December 14 at its regularly-scheduled meeting.

Stanish, the director of finance for the Naperville Park District, is an active member of the Board, serving for the past five years. Trustees are responsible for the prudent management of IMRF's retirement assets, and for making sure the money is there to pay the benefits earned by every IMRF member and beneficiary, now and for years to come.

Ultimately, the Board carries the responsibility to ensure that IMRF continues to be a well-run, successful pension fund. During her IMRF tenure, Stanish served as Board Vice President in 2016 and Board President in 2017.

"It has been an honor serving on the IMRF Board for the last five years and the experience I have gained has been invaluable," Stanish said. "As a trustee, I will continue to work hard to ensure that the Fund remains fiscally sound and viable for members and employers."  

Serving the park district for seven years, this experienced certified public accountant is responsible for its financial operations such as investments, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, debt management, policy development and financial analysis.

Stanish previously served as the director of finance for the Village of Willowbrook for 13 years and as the accounting manager for the City of Naperville for five years. She holds an accounting degree from DePaul University and is also the past president of the Illinois Governmental Finance Officers Association (IGFOA).

Her new term will run from January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2023. Stanish began her Board service in 2014.
