National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) Voluntary Life Insurance Plan 2007 Open Enrollment

August 23, 2007

In 2007, IMRF conducted an Executive Trustee election. The results of the election were certified at the IMRF Board of Trustees' December Board meeting:

Executive Summary

In 1989, IMRF endorsed a Voluntary Life Insurance Plan for IMRF members through the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS). The administrator for the plan is American Administration Group (AAG), and the underwriter is Prudential. Your employer may or may not participate. Please disregard this memorandum if it does not.

The 2007 Annual Open Enrollment for the NCPERS Voluntary Life Insurance Plan will be done primarily through electronic means. You will receive the NCPERS Open Enrollment instructions via email with a link to the Open Enrollment brochure and plan administrator website. (For employers without web access, AAG will continue with paper enrollments.)

We ask that you encourage your IMRF members to review the enrollment materials and to take advantage of this opportunity to enroll in the Voluntary Life Insurance Plan.

The 2007 Annual Open Enrollment for the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) Voluntary Life Insurance Plan is fast approaching.

This year’s enrollment will be done primarily through electronic means. You will receive the NCPERS Open Enrollment instructions via email with a link to the Open Enrollment brochure and plan administrator website. The electronic open enrollment will replace the paper process used in previous years. (For employers without web access, AAG will continue with paper enrollments.)

Encourage members to review material

We ask that you encourage your IMRF members to review the enrollment materials and to take advantage of this opportunity to enroll in the Voluntary Life Insurance Plan. The NCPERS Voluntary Life Insurance Plan is an important benefit endorsed by the IMRF Board of Trustees.

Its unique decreasing term design provides optimal coverage at younger ages when retirement plan benefits are just starting to build.

This plan also includes coverage for eligible dependents automatically and allows IMRF members to carry coverage into retirement, a feature missing in most group life insurance plans.

American Administration Group (AAG), the plan administrator, and Gallagher Benefit Services (GBS), the plan consultant, have designed this year’s Open Enrollment process to be more efficient and less paper intensive than in the past. We hope you will find this new electronic process easier to administer.
