Fundamentals newsletter for inactive members

In an effort to better communicate the value of IMRF benefits to inactive members, we developed a new Fundamentals newsletter. A copy of the newsletter is enclosed for your information.
A substantial number of inactive members have service and contributions on deposit with IMRF. Many of these members currently participate in reciprocal systems; others are vested but have not yet reached retirement age. We recognize that inactive members can benefit by receiving information on IMRF’s financial health, the benefit application process, and retirement planning.
The first inactive member newsletter was mailed to approximately 66,000 inactive members on Wednesday, June 12, 2002. We coordinated the newsletter mailing with the inactive Member Statement mailing. The first inactive Member Statements will be mailed on July 7, 2002.
IMRF’s second inactive member newsletter will be mailed in early November.
