IMRF encourages members and retirees to be vigilant against scams
As the 2014 tax filing season is underway, IMRF warns members and retirees to guard against scams and other potential frauds.
At IMRF, we are committed to protecting your information. IMRF has identified some tips to help you protect personal information, while conducting your normal day-to-day business with us.
Follow these tips to protect yourself against scams:
- Register for a Member Access Account.
- The Member Access Account has a secure messaging function that allows you to send a message to IMRF through the secure portal.The Secure Message Center is a safe way for you to communicate with IMRF. The protected nature of the Secure Message Center makes it the perfect way to send confidential information like Member ID and IMRF account information.
- IMRF will never send confidential information to your personal email addresses.
- If you receive an email that directs you to another website or asks for confidential information relating to your retirement and pension, do not respond and contact IMRF immediately at 1-800-ASK-IMRF (275-4673).
- Do not disclose your Member Access user ID and password to anyone.
- Do not place your Member Access user ID or password in an accessible location.
- Do not leave the computer unattended while you are logged in to your Member Access account.
- Always log off of IMRF's secure areas when you are finished viewing or submitting information
