WHEREAS, section 7-198 of the Illinois Pension Code authorizes the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund to establish rules necessary or desirable for the efficient administration of the Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has previously adopted Resolutions 1960-4604, 1964-5820, 1965-6057, and 1966-6651, which establish rules regarding Social Security contributions and wage reporting for participating employers and members; and
WHEREAS, these rules were necessary for the efficient administration of IMRF’s responsibilities under the Social Security Act prior to 1987; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Congress ended many of IMRF’s responsibilities under the Social Security Act when it amended that Act effective January 1, 1987; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the Board’s now obsolete rules regarding Social Security contributions and wage reporting be rescinded.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Board Resolutions 1960-4604,
1964-5820, 1965-6057, and 1966-6651 be and are hereby rescinded.
