WHEREAS, a person must have at least 12 months of service credit in a participating position and have made contributions to the fund for at least the number of months of service normally required in his position during a 12 month period in order to qualify for a temporary disability benefit and disability service credits, and

WHEREAS, a participating employee with less than one year of service may become disabled, and as a result, lose a month or more of service credit, now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the following paragraph be added to the rules governing benefit protection leave of absence:

If an employee becomes disabled in the first 12 months of service and, as a result thereof, loses service credit for one or more months, the Fund will recognize a benefit protection leave of absence if proper application is made.
