WHEREAS, section 7-198 of the Illinois Pension Code authorizes the Board of Trustees to establish rules necessary or desirable for the efficient administration of the Fund; and

WHEREAS, it is desirable for the efficient administration of the Fund that members and employers be allowed to fax copies of forms and documents to IMRF; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees intends to establish a policy regarding documents received in the Fund offices via fax.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following policy regarding faxed documents be established by the IMRF Board of Trustees:

  1. IMRF will accept receipt of all IMRF forms via fax. No hard copy follow-up will be required if the faxed copy is legible.
  2. IMRF will accept receipt of all documents required for member benefit processing via fax. No hard copy follow-up will be required if the faxed copy is legible.
  3. IMRF will accept receipt of all employer forms and documents via fax. No hard copy follow-up will be required if the faxed copy is legible.
  4. The date and time of the fax as it is recorded on the IMRF fax machine log will be the official date and time of receipt of the form or document.
