Discussion

Welcome to the online discussion board for Book #2!

In the book Thanks!, the author contends that the importance and benefits of gratitude are often underestimated.

What is your experience with living a grateful life? Do you agree or disagree with the author's opinion on the importance of gratitude?

Donna Richardson

I have kept a grateful journal for 30 years. I agree with the importance of gratitude. Gratitude prevents me from taking the good things in my life for granted. I also agree by being grateful I am not envious but happy for my friends and acquaintances for the good things that happen in their lives. I like the part where Emmons writes that it is gratitude that enables us to receive and it is gratitude that motivates us to repay by returning the goodness we have been given.

I told Oprah that she had inspired me to keep a gratitude journal;in so doing, she chose me to go on the trip to Australia with her. For that I am EXTREMELY grateful
