5.80 E. When Health Insurance Coverage Ends

Health insurance coverage under Section 367j ends when the first to occur takes place:

  1. The retiree, disabled member, or surviving spouse fails to pay premiums;

  2. The retiree or disabled member returns to IMRF covered employment;

  3. The retiree or disabled member is convicted of a job-related felony;

  4. The retiree or disabled member dies (Certain surviving spouses of deceased terminated employees are entitled to continuation, see 5.80 B.1d Surviving Spouses of Deceased Members);

  5. The disabled member takes a refund of IMRF contributions;

  6. The surviving spouse dies;

  7. The employer terminates health insurance coverage for all employees (actives and those on continuation).
