IMRF legislation to improve benefits passes the Senate

Earlier this year, IMRF sponsored legislation that would:

• Reduce the vesting requirement for an IMRF pension from eight years to five (SB 1960)
• Pay 3.75% interest on separation refunds (SB 1958)
• Stabilize the 13th Payment at 75% of the monthly pension payable in June (SB 1959)
• Give the IMRF Annuitant Trustee the right to vote (SB 1957)

These bills have passed the Senate and are now in the House waiting for a first reading (a first vote). These bills would modernize IMRF's benefit structure and have a positive impact not only for IMRF members but also for their employers.
