Retiree Workshops

Since 2008, IMRF has partnered with the University of Illinois Extension to provide workshops on various topics. We offer workshops at various locations throughout the state. Workshops are free, and we encourage you to bring a guest!

2014 workshop: Building bridges across the generation gaps

The good news is that people are living longer and healthier lives. Today, it is not uncommon to have four or even five living generations in the typical family. Each generation comes with its own beliefs or perspectives based on lived experiences. Because of this, generational conflict can occur. Learning to manage the misunderstandings that can result from intergenerational relationships is very beneficial. This workshop, held in partnership with the Universityof Illinois Extension, highlights the similarities and differences between generations and helps participants learn effective communication tools to build bridges across the generations.

Workshop dates and locations are available in Member Acess and in the Spring 2014 Retiree Fundamentals newsletter.

Find and register for a workshop.

IMRF Online provides a brief summary of IMRF benefits and the adminstration of those benefits. IMRF members' and employers' rights and obligations are governed by Article 7 of the Illinois Pension Code. Statements in these publications are general, and the Illinois state law governing IMRF is complex and specific. If a conflict arises between information in these publications and the law, all decisions are based on the law.
