IMRF is governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees serving staggered five-year terms. Four of the members are Executive Trustees and are elected by participating units of government, three are Employee Trustees and are elected by participating IMRF members, and one is an Annuitant Trustee who is currently receiving an IMRF retirement benefit and is elected by IMRF annuitants.
