Ruth E. Faklis' Biography

Present Position — Director, Prairie Trails Public Library District

Length of Service — Director of the Prairie Trails Public Library District since 1990. Director of the Glen Ellyn Public Library from 1986 to 1988, Consultant for the Suburban Library System (now the Metropolitan Library System) from 1982 to 1986.

Duties — As the Director of the library for over seventeen years, I work directly with the library’s trustees, patrons, staff members and vendors. I oversee the budget/funding process, personnel, legal documentation, policy implementation, and strategic planning. I also serve as the IMRF Authorized Agent for the Prairie Trails Library and have done so for more than seventeen years.

Other Pertinent Information I am the incumbent board member running in the IMRF Executive Trustee election. Having served on the IMRF Board, I feel that the experience and talent that I bring to the table strongly assists IMRF in meeting its four strategic goals in service to our members. I am a stalwart supporter of the defined benefit plan, as well as the preservation of the 100% funding goal. My experience with Illinois legislative advocacy is a further benefit to the fund members.

IMRF will hold an Executive Trustee Election in 2008. Details of this election will be published on this website and in the Fundamentals newsletters.
